Why do you need a checklist?   

The vehicle inspection checklist is responsible for checking and understanding the working vehicle condition. This checklist is used to value the vehicle’s condition. It focuses on identifying mechanical defects or issues to make sure that the vehicles are in good order to work and safest ride on the roads. 

 

What’s in a checklist? 

 

The checklist is prepared for the vehicles which are going for an inspection. This checklist will give the proper examination of the vehicle which includes inspection of the braking system, tires, steering and steering wheels, lighting equipment, chassis, and its attachments, axles, and many other structural and mechanical functions of a vehicle. 

 

It starts from examining the basic information of the vehicle to the interior system. The checklist of the vehicles varies from different vehicle inspecting companies to other local vehicle engineers. The checklist is prepared by their terms and conditions. Some important points are noted while preparing the checklist. They include an exterior overview, checking the glass panels, checking the tires and wheels, checking for any damage, checking the lights and other electrical working parts, any frame damages, locking system of doors, and so on. These are simple inspections firstly done by the vehicle inspection engineer. It points to recognize mechanical issues and defects.

A vehicle inspection list must have a list of checkouts to be carried out. Most of the Checklist comprises Braking system, steering, steering wheels, wipers, axles, tires, safety belts, coupling system, engine compartment, chassis and underside, engine operation, exhaust system, lighting devices, fuel system, loading safety, steering mechanism, windshield, front and rear suspension, transmission, electrical control, clutch, bodywork exterior, safety pieces of equipment, and a road test for about ten rounds. It also includes checking the level of brake fluid, oil levels, radiator, starting system, battery condition, air conditioning, corrosion, wheel bearing, handbrake operation, silencers, air valves, painting works, number plates, and so on. There are different types of checklists for various purposes. 

 

It has a Daily vehicle inspection checklist; it is done daily to ensure the safety and quality of the vehicle. It can be done by the vehicle owners. A weekly vehicle inspection checklist is used by vehicle inspectors to inspect. Light vehicle’s daily inspection checklist, is used in compliance-focused light vehicles. Forklift operator daily checklist is used to check before the forklift is operated to ensure its safety. Driver training checklist, is used to know the performance of the driver. Company vehicle inspection checklist, this is done before getting a vehicle.
